Welcome to Susie — a privacy-first AI therapist web app designed to offer emotional support through conversations with a language model. By creating an account or using this website (“Service”), you agree to the following Terms of Service (“Terms”). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Susie, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Susie. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent.

3. Nature of the Service

Susie is an AI-powered tool that offers conversational support intended for self-reflection and emotional exploration. It is not a substitute for licensed therapy or professional mental health care.

• No Diagnosis or Medical Advice: Susie does not diagnose, treat, or cure mental health conditions.
• If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency, please contact a licensed professional or crisis hotline in your region.

4. Privacy and Data Storage

Susie is designed to be privacy-first, with the following principles:

• Chat Content: All conversation history and preferences are stored only in your browser’s local storage. Susie does not store chat messages on any server.
• User Accounts: We use Clerk for authentication. By signing up, you agree that Clerk may store your email and login credentials in accordance with their privacy policy.

5. Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Use the Service only for personal, non-commercial purposes.
• Not use Susie to engage in harmful, illegal, or abusive behavior.
• Not attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or abuse the underlying AI system.

6. User Content

While chat content is stored locally, you remain responsible for any content you generate through your use of Susie. You must not use the Service to:

• Create or share harmful, unlawful, or offensive content
• Harass or impersonate others

We reserve the right to suspend or restrict accounts that abuse the system.

7. Account Security

You are responsible for safeguarding your account and local data. If you export your data to another device, ensure it is stored securely.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, design, and branding associated with Susie are the intellectual property of its creator, oprating under the name "Susie", except where otherwise noted. You may not reuse or redistribute them without permission.

9. Changes to the Service

We may update or change the Service over time, including introducing optional paid features to support sustainability. Core access to Susie will remain free.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms.

11. Disclaimer of Warranty

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that Susie will always be available or error-free.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the creator of Susie shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use Susie, including indirect or incidental damages.
